Our dry-style Riesling
Our Riesling is a vibrant and expressive wine that captures the essence of the Pacific Northwest. It showcases the classic characteristics of Riesling, with a crisp acidity and a refreshing minerality that makes it incredibly versatile.
Appearance:
This Riesling presents a pale straw color with a slight greenish tint, reflecting its freshness and vibrant character. The wine is crystal clear, with bright, lively reflections when held up to the light.
Aroma:
The nose is intensely aromatic, offering an enticing bouquet of green apple, lime zest, and white peach. Delicate floral notes of jasmine and honeysuckle mingle with hints of wet stone, adding complexity and elegance to the aroma.
Palate:
On the palate, this dry Riesling is crisp and lively, with a well-balanced acidity that invigorates the senses. Flavors of tart green apple, grapefruit, and lime dominate, accompanied by subtle notes of apricot and a touch of honey. The minerality shines through, with a distinct wet stone character that lingers into a clean, refreshing finish.
Food Pairing:
This versatile Riesling pairs beautifully with a wide range of dishes. Its bright acidity and citrus notes make it an ideal match for seafood, particularly oysters, scallops, and grilled fish. It also complements spicy Asian cuisine, such as Thai or Indian dishes, where its acidity can balance the heat. For a lighter option, enjoy it with a fresh summer salad, goat cheese, or simply on its own as a refreshing aperitif.
Really good, the 2022 Sin Banderas Riesling is another outstanding release from this great value producer. Made in the Trocken style, with a soft texture, this shows ripe peach, wet gravel, and green apple flavors. This is absolutely killer stuff that would pair beautifully with sushi. Drink 2023-2028

The 2021 Riesling DuBrul Vineyard is spicy, with candied lime and musky dried peaches forming its bouquet. There's a burst of inner sweetness up front, followed by notes of mineral-tinged melon and pretty inner florals. This pinches at the cheeks with tension as residual acids force the mouth to water. While I find myself craving more energy, I'm certainly enjoying the balance of sweet fruits and cheek puckering acidity.

Fruit for this wine comes from one of the state's most esteemed vineyards. Aromatically, it's still in its shell, with touches of lime, lemon, herb and a whiff of smoke. Just a hair off-dry drinking, medium-bodied flavors follow. The acid is impressive, carrying the flavors on the finish. One would like to see more aromatic expression that might come with time; the palate is captivating.

There’s a remarkable amount of expression packed into the lithe frame, leading with pear, apricot and honeysuckle aromas. The structure is lively and very minerally, combining white flower blossom, peach, melon, honeycrisp apple and racy limestone flavors. Ends with a mouthwatering finish accented by vanilla and tropical fruit. Marvelously complex and structured.

While this Riesling has a very subtle nose, it is not shy on the palate. Sourced from the esteemed DuBrul Vineyard, the wine first tastes light and fresh, but finishes with intensity and an essence of dried lemon zest. The 2020 is solid but has big shoes to fill as the 2019 vintage won Best Riesling and a Double Gold at the Great Northwest Invitational Wine Competition. We suggest pairing this dry, zesty wine with fresh seafood ceviche.

This band of friends/co-workers at acclaimed Owen Roe — led by Texas-grown winemaker Jacki Evans — continue to thoughtfully build a fan base, particularly through taprooms, wine shops and small grocers in Washington and along the Oregon side of the Columbia Gorge. Their source for Riesling is famed DuBrul Vineyard, the Shiels family’s planting for Côte Bonneville that’s about 24 miles southeast of Owen Roe. The result is a Riesling that’s traditional, identifiable and enticing, starting with aromas of honeyed almond skin, stone fruit and a faint whiff of petrol. Across the palate arrive flavors of ripe white peach, lemon chiffon pie and honeydew melon. The bright balance of the barely perceptible sugar level (0.85%) allows the flavors repeat in stunning fashion, paving the way for its award as Best Riesling and a double gold last fall at the Great Northwest Invitational Wine Competition.
Outstanding!
Double gold / Best of class / BEST RIESLING - Great Northwest Wine
Lighter-styled aromas of lime, cut green apple, mineral and citrus are followed by sleek, bone-dry stone fruit flavors that bring puckering acidity. The vibrant acidity keeps the interest high. Pair it with halibut accompanied by a nectarine and peach salsa.
